The ministry was founded by Senior Pastor Anthony Ngigi and his wife Senior Pastor Jane Mbugua in August 2012. The Ministry began its first meetings in Nottingham, England.
The Vision God impressed upon the visionary’s heart was to start a ministry and with specific instructions name the ministry from Psalms 91 to prepare men and women for the Lord Jesus Christ that would bring Hope, to the hopeless, lift the status of many down trodden people and set them to live like Princes of which they are in God‘s sight.
In a dream among many others, the visionaries saw many people – the unsaved, the infirm, the poor, the marginalized, the disadvantaged, and the oppressed come to a water fall with fresh water and as people drank the water they were transformed, healed and delivered.
The queue was so long for those waiting to drink the water but as they drank the water there was great joy and excitement as people were being set free. We believe that the water fall with fresh water was of God and without a doubt gave us the boldness to carry that burden for others just as HE had done for us. It was at this point that we went in prayer to seek God’s guidance that actually pointed us a new building which was along Hucknall / Arnold road and started our first meeting in that place.
Right from the start the visionaries cast a clear vision, aims and objectives that would guide the ministry to accomplish the mission for which God has created it. The Ministry became the vehicle to realize the vision.
One of our statements of faith in Shelter of Elyon Ministries states as follows;
“We believe that the bible is error free, unchangeable, active and alive word of God. It consists of 66 books which are the basis of life and ministry of the church.”
One of the initial Steps of Bible Study is, “Preparing Yourself to Study the Bible!”
Matthew 11:25 states that, I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.
It is of great significance to be aware that in order to successfully engage God’s most precious Word, one must: BRING HIS /HER MIND TO BE RIGHT WITH GOD!
Because, the Scriptures is our primary means of knowing God, learning His precepts and growing in His grace (Joshua 1:7-8; Ps. 1, 19, 119; Matt. 4:1-11, 7:24-29; John 8:31-32, 15:1-11; Col. 3:12-17; 2 Tim. 3:15-16; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1: 22-2:2).
We must be willing to not just read the Bible, but be willing to obey God’s decrees! It is not about you, it is about God! Make it your choice…
